The Textured Ponytail Hair Tutorial

I’m admittedly a “hair down” kind of girl, but I do think textured ponytails pair really well with turtleneck sweaters. And after recently finding some pretty sweaters from Express, I thought it would be a perfect time to film an updated tutorial.

You can watch the video below to learn how to get this look, but the key is starting with some texture or bend in your hair to get a similar result.

My favorite texture powder at the moment is by Virtue, but there are a lot of similar options out there as well. If you are more of a texture spray kind of girl, my favorite is the Un.Done Volume and Matte texture spray from Amika.

As far as other tools go, a medium classic hair tie like this one from Gimme Beauty, and clear elastics, are what you’ll need to hold the ponytail. It also helps to have a good comb for backcombing.

The secret is in using two separate ponytail holders! It creates the nicest foundation and support for a volumized and bouncy ponytail.
