A Game-Changing Flat Iron from Dyson

Leave it to Dyson to blow our minds ( pun intended ) with a new kind of blow dryer, and then follow that up with a curling and smoothing device that uses AIR to contort the hair.

And now Dyson has just launched a new kind of flat iron called the Corrale Straightener. It’s a straightener with flexible plates meant to shape around your hair in one pass.

You may have heard of the phrase “single-pass” from times I’ve talked about T3 Micro tools. The whole concept is that you can achieve the result you want (a curl or a smooth section) in a single pass of the tool through the hair. This prevents users from running over and over a single section causing unnecessary heat damage and friction on the hair.

Once you use an iron that gives you the result you want with a “single-pass”, you’ll never go back.

Beyond the effectiveness of the iron, one of the other amazing features is that it can be used cordlessly! It comes with a really nice charging dock where you can fully charge the iron in 70 minutes. From there, you have 30 minutes of cord-free time to use it. If you forget to charge it, simply attach the magnetic cord onto the base of the iron and use it like you would normally.

The iron is big, and you can tell you are holding a hefty tool in your hand. The grooved plates on the exterior help guide the hair smoothly into the iron. This is helpful, without a doubt, but it is a feature I could probably live without. If you use a flat iron to curl your hair, like so many do, the grooves will certainly help keep the section of hair you are working with smooth against the iron.

I love that it offers 3 typical heat settings, and it’s nice to know that the iron itself regulates the temperature 100 times a minute, so you won’t get any hot spots.

I’ve used a handful of different flat irons through the years, and I have to say that the Dyson Corrale is fantastic. It runs through the hair smoothly, quickly, and is very effective at smoothing and straightening. I haven’t used it for adding a bend to my hair yet, but I plan to try that soon. I’ve used irons in the past that snag against the edges of the hair but this iron doesn’t!

In order to have the most success when styling your hair smooth and straight make sure you prep your hair with smoothing and heat-protecting products. I rounded up a few of my personal favorites below! Flat irons are hot, and you should only use them at a temperature that works to get your hair straight, which isn’t necessarily the highest temperature! Always start with the lowest heat setting and work your way up.

For the price of this iron, I had pretty high expectations. I’m dying to try it on someone with coarse or textured hair to really see it perform, but for the sake of my personal use, I was really pleased.
